President's Message

Welcome to our 33 new members in February and 14 so far this month! To the membership,
please continue to expand our ranks by recruiting NP friends, classmates and colleagues. The
call for scholarship applicants has started. Scholarships are open to NP students and Doctoral
Students. Please see the website to review the guidelines on how to apply.

I would like to ensure the value of HANP member benefits by enhancing member satisfaction and increasing diversity in our membership base. These values are the foundation for all that we do. Ideas imagined years ago have gained momentum, and there has been growth in every sector of the organization: education and scholarship programs, community awareness, and legislative initiatives. The organization is a work in progress and will continue to evolve.

Last week we signed a contract renewal with Association Management Consultants (AMC), our administration management company, for another 2 years. In addition to the administrative
agreement, we are considering adding a Social Media package ($350-600 per/month) to increase our reach into the community and access to our members, but the cost is not insignificant. I want to make sure that the (ROI) return on investment will deliver the much needed community support for full practice authority in the State of Texas and enhance our social media presence. I would really appreciate your support and input with regards to this matter. Please feel free to email me or talk to me or the other board members and share your ideas. I am leaning towards getting the social media package for a year to test the impact it will have to HANP, what do you think?

The dinner meeting for March will be an update on Heart Failure. Mr. Michael Pudlo, NP at
Houston Methodist will be our speaker and the event is sponsored by Zoll. So far we have 130
who are registered for this event! Please make sure to notify us if for some reason you are
registered and will not be able to attend the meeting. We have people on the waiting list that
want to attend in your place. Please be mindful of this RSVP responsibility.

If you are an AANP member, please vote for Alison Mitchell as Director for Region 6. The voting window is March 15-March 31st. If you are not a member please consider a membership to AANP.

Community events:

  • The Food Bank Volunteer Event will be this Saturday, March 17th from 1 pm - 4 pm. So far we have 17 people registered. If we do not have enough people we need to let them know in advance so they can fill it up with other volunteers. Please click here to register.
  • Crawfish Boil - April 7th at Lodge 88; sponsored by E3 Wealth. Please click here to register.
  • Stomp Out Stroke Festival on Saturday, April 28th. Volunteers are needed to help man the booth from 8 am - 12 pm and 12 pm - 4 pm at Discovery Green. Please email if you are able to help.

In order to achieve the outcomes we desire, we have to use all the available resources and strengths that we have in order to produce results that will benefit the members and the organization as a whole. Our members are our strength so please remain engaged and actively participate in our activities, goals, and vision. I believe that we have the vision, and my goal as board president is to keep us loyal to that vision.

Thank you for your continued support of HANP!
